To reveal the Halloween-styled performers, Ed Walker (Head of Events UK & International, Vevo) had to overcome the challenge of finding a stage-filling canvas that was dense enough to project on and flexible enough to pull up as a Venetian curtain using a system that was able to raise the drape in only 6 seconds.
The solution? ShowTex supplied a 6 m high by 17 m wide Venetian style screen made of Filled Cloth stage canvas and a made-to-measure Hispeed RollUp system consisting of three 6 m units combined with one motor as a large modular system. Walker brought in the specialists and had a ShowTex technician on site during the installation and for tuning the system.
Walker explains: “We came across ShowTex’s Hispeed RollUp system. In this case wires are attached to the barrels to pull up the screen to where it needs to be. It was problem-free, which was surprising as I thought it would need a lot of adjustment. The previous system could do it in 13 seconds, but the barrel system by ShowTex did it in six - we could have even done it in 2.5 but that was too fast!”
